Do you have experience as a developer and a desire to help deliver solutions to non-trivial problems? Have you developed complex solutions on the decentralized platform? Do you also understand a user’s needs? Would you like to be challenged professionally through the development of large IT solutions and work in an agile team? – Then you could be the next developer at the Danish Agency for Development and Simplification (UFST).

About UFST

“We ensure well-functioning IT solutions, so that the Danish Tax Administration as a whole can carry out its task.”

UFST is a cross-disciplinary agency responsible for developing, operating, and maintaining new and existing IT systems within the Danish Tax Administration, so that they are stable, secure, and cost-effective.

UFST’s employees are professionally competent and specialized, while also able to work closely with other disciplines across the Ministry of Taxation. Extensive and complex tasks are solved through a strong professional community across the various fields.

UFST is continuously looking for new colleagues who share the ambition of securing the foundation for financing the public sector.

About the Department

You will be employed in the department for personal reporting and international data exchange. The department currently has around 14 employees plus consultants with various specialties, all of whom ensure the development, further development, and operation of new and existing solutions. The department is organized into several development teams and several shared services. The department is characterized by an informal and dynamic atmosphere, where a strong sense of community with a focus on well-being and personal development is cultivated daily. Professional quality is valued highly, while social activities to have fun are also prioritized.

UFST has professional communities offering ample opportunity to spar with other developers across the organization. There are well-established processes and methods in the organization that you can learn from and that you must be able to work within, even though the position also requires you to be able to establish new ones and challenge the existing ones.

About the Position

As a developer, you will become part of a cross-disciplinary agile team consisting of other developers, business analysts, UX designers, a product owner, and a scrum master.

It is common for the team to participate in the entire process, from analysis and design to development, testing, and implementation. Your primary tasks therefore include:

  • Developing applications that support the needs of the Danish Tax Administration
  • Analyzing complex issues and preparing well-functioning solutions for them
  • Contributing to the preparation of user stories, tasks, and associated acceptance criteria
  • Ensuring that deliverables are of high quality by means of automated tests

All developers are considered full stack, but individual strengths and preferences are accommodated where possible. Work is mainly done on Java solutions on the decentralized platform with the associated technology stack and tools – Spring Boot, REST API interfaces, databases, containers (Docker), open source on Jenkins, as well as Git and GitHub.

Developers are expected, in addition to being skilled in their field, to also understand the user’s needs and be able to build quality into the solutions. You can therefore also expect to be involved in architecture decisions about the design of the solution.

About You

You are likely educated as a computer scientist, engineer, or similar, combined with at least a couple of years of experience with software development of complex IT systems. It comes naturally to you to work across the team internally and with other professional groups in the organization. Since much of the documentation is in Danish, it is important that you can communicate in Danish, both in writing and verbally.

In addition, you have:

  • Experience programming in OOP-based languages such as Java and C# (or other JVM-based languages)
  • Experience with or knowledge of working with DevOps, Continuous Integration, Git, Docker, automated tests, relational databases, and SQL

Your skills mean that you are not afraid to voice your opinion, and you can back up your views with solid professional argumentation. You are eager to contribute actively to outreach and clarification tasks and are open to working with new technologies, and you are happy to learn a new tech stack.
